H. SUPPORT FOR CHILE'S HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSERS

  • EIR article (2005) by convicted felon William Wertz alleges that top LaRouche aides "made direct contact with Chile's former DINA [secret police] head Manuel Contreras and other representatives of the Pinochet regime" in 1993. Alleges that this led to discussions of rekindling the Operation Condor death squads that had assassinated Chilean dissidents in exile, and to a possible coup to save Pinochet's top thugs from prosecution. These allegations are made in the framework of a polemic against LaRouche aides who had been purged. The entire text can be viewed HERE. Because of the next item below, I flatly don't believe that the LaRouchian overtures to elements of the former Pinochet regime were conducted behind LaRouche's back (while he was in prison) by certain of his own aides operating on their own. I would urge the former LaRouchians named in this document to come forward and tell everything they know about LaRouche's, and their own, sinister contacts and activities throughout Latin America from the 1970s through the current decade.

  • Evidence that EIR's 2005 article above is a cynical coverup of LaRouche's own complicity in defending the former Pinochet regime. Here is a Nov. 6, 1998 EIR article by Cynthia R. Rush that clearly and openly defends Pinochet and other perpetrators of horrific human rights abuses in Chile--and dismisses the murderous Operation Condor as being merely an "anti-terror intelligence-sharing and coordination program." (Note also the defense of the former death squads in Spain.) By this time, LaRouche had been out of prison for almost five years and was in daily control of his organization's activities and publications. According to ex-LaRouchians, the EIR editorial staff would never have dared to openly support Pinochet without the explicit approval of LaRouche himself. As to William Wertz (author of the 2005 article), he apparently is willing to lie to EIR's readers just as flagrantly as he lied to senior citizens from whom he and his master LaRouche swindled millions of dollars in the 1980s.
